Adventist HealthCare will become the official overall sponsor of the Maryland SoccerPlex, located in Boyds, MD. The sponsorship began in early 2020 and will include renaming the current 64,000-square-foot Discovery Sports Center to the “Adventist HealthCare Fieldhouse.

The Maryland SoccerPlex is a recognized name in the Washington D.C. region for promoting health and physical activity for the past 19 years. The upper Montgomery County complex hosts premier soccer, lacrosse, basketball, and other sports tournaments. The Maryland SoccerPlex also runs the Soccer Association of Montgomery (SAM Soccer), an organization that hosts nearly 4,000 soccer players per season. The complex hosts over 1.1 million visitors each year, many from the local region, but also from across the country because of their stellar athletic tournaments.

The renamed facility is often the center of activity at the SoccerPlex and provides more than just soccer. It hosts events, indoor sports tournaments, and children’s camps.

“I am excited for this partnership as we look to continue to grow and provide the best sports complex that offers a wide array of sports and education about sports health and healthy lifestyles for our visitors,” says Matt Libber, the Executive Director at the SoccerPlex. “Adventist HealthCare’s commitment to health and wellness is well-known and we hope through our partnership to bring more education on healthy lifestyles, nutrition, and sports health to our visitors.”

A proven partner

As one of the longest-serving healthcare systems in the Washington D.C. region and the largest in Montgomery County, Adventist HealthCare has provided the community with expert and compassionate care since 1907. In addition to its acute-care hospitals, Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center, Adventist HealthCare White Oak Medical Center, and Adventist HealthCare Fort Washington Medical Center, the system also features Adventist HealthCare Rehabilitation, which has a comprehensive sports medicine program. It offers other healthcare services such as urgent care and a physician network that includes primary and specialty care.

“Our commitment to improving the health of the communities we serve is reinforced with this partnership, as it allows us a new way to connect with community members and help to bring health and wellness education and access to our high-quality care,” says Terry Forde, President & CEO of Adventist HealthCare.

The sponsorship between Adventist HealthCare and Maryland SoccerPlex will extend to 2025.
