The Maryland Soccer Foundation is overseen by a dedicated Board of Directors composed of prominent community members. Each of these members brings expertise and extensive knowledge to help the Maryland Soccer Foundation continue to grow and impact the community.
VJ Mayor, President:
VJ Mayor has been serving on the MSF Board since 2012. Mayor is currently the Executive Director/Account Manager CEO for Southern Association of Wholesale Distributors. Previously before his current position, Mayor was the Executive Director/Account Manager for the Association Services Group, and the Senior Director of Research and Communications for the Sports & Fitness Industry Association. In his spare time, Mayor enjoys hiking, golfing, spend time with his family, and watch sports – especially soccer! Mayor states he is “proud and honored to serve on the board with such esteemed colleagues to fulfill MSF’s mission.”
Todd Dunda, Treasurer:
Todd has been in the hotel industry for nearly 30 years, starting out as the Director of Finance for individual hotel properties before moving to Marriott International in 2002. Todd is currently the VP of Finance at Marriott International. He works with franchise brands such as Courtyards, Fairfield Inns, and other popular mid tier brands under the Marriott umbrella of hotels. Todd is current the Treasurer for the Board of Directors and Chairs the Finance Committee.
Gregg Willhauck, Secretary:
Gregg Willhauck is a seasoned government relations and international development professional with extensive experience in U.S. public policy and global economic initiatives. He currently serves as Director of Congressional and Government Relations and Afghanistan Program Officer at the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE), where he acts as a key liaison to the U.S. Congress, federal agencies, and international development organizations.
With nearly two decades of prior service in the U.S. Senate, Willhauck held senior roles including Legislative Director to Senator John E. Sununu, Executive Director of the Senate Steering Committee, and Legislative Counsel to Senator Spencer Abraham. His work has focused on foreign relations, economic policy, and legislative strategy.
Willhauck holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Albion College and brings deep expertise in legislative affairs, international development, and public-private sector engagement.
Joyce Fuhrmann
Joyce Fuhrmann is currently serving as the Immediate Past President for the Board of Directors and has been a member of the Board since 2013. Fuhrmann is the first woman elected to Chair the Board of Directors. Joyce is a higher education leader with extensive experience in academic operations, STEMM program development, and workforce-focused initiatives. She currently serves as Director of BSE Operations and STEMM Initiatives at the Universities at Shady Grove, where she leads efforts to expand access to science and technology programs and strengthen partnerships aligned with regional workforce needs.
Fuhrmann has held multiple leadership roles at Shady Grove, including Director of BSE Operations, where she has been instrumental in managing academic programs, supporting enrollment initiatives, and coordinating cross-institutional collaborations. She has also contributed to strategic efforts addressing enrollment growth and student success across partner universities.
Earlier in her career, Fuhrmann worked in local government, serving with the Montgomery County Council, and has been involved in regional economic and bioscience initiatives, including participation in the Montgomery County Biosciences Task Force.
Fuhrmann received a bachelor’s in biology from Bucknell University and a master’s in biotechnology from the prestigious Johns Hopkins University. In her spare time, Fuhrmann enjoys hiking, traveling, and watching her daughter’s soccer games. was previous the Treasurer for the Board of Directors and serves on the Finance Committee.
Julius Robinson:
Julius W. Robinson is a senior hospitality executive and global business leader with more than three decades of experience at Marriott International. He currently serves as Chief Operating Officer for Marriott’s Western U.S. managed portfolio and Gaylord Hotels nationwide, where he oversees operations, guest experience, and overall business performance across a large portfolio of luxury and premium properties.
Prior to this role, Robinson was Chief Sales and Marketing Officer for the U.S. and Canada, leading revenue strategy, sales, marketing, and brand positioning across the region. Over his long tenure with Marriott, he has held numerous senior leadership positions spanning brand management, global sales, and hotel operations, and has played a key role in major brand transformations and growth initiatives.
Robinson holds an MBA from the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Rutgers University. He is widely recognized for his leadership in driving performance, innovation, and diversity initiatives within the hospitality industry.
Robinson has a passion for soccer and wants to provide opportunities for our youth. In his spare time, Robinson enjoys sports, reading, and photography. Julius was previous the Treasurer for the Board of Directors and serves on the Finance Committee.
Brent Hanson:
Brent Hanson has been a member of the Board since 2008 and formerly served as the President of the Board of Directors. Hanson brings 35 years of experience in management and consulting to the MSF Board. Mr. Hanson was formerly Treasurer of the Maryland Soccer Foundation. Hanson previously served as Vice President of First Consulting Group, a leading provider of information technology consulting and operational improvement services to the healthcare industry. . As a long-standing member of FCG’s Board and Management Committee, Hanson was involved in the growth of the firm from its inception to its going public in 1998. Prior to joining FCG, Hanson was a consultant with Arthur Andersen & Company. He has served on several boards and is a long-standing member of the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing Advisory Board. In his spare time, Hanson enjoys traveling, writing, and bicycling.
James (Jim) McGuire:
Jim McGuire joined the MSF Board in 2020. Before retiring, McGuire worked for the City of Gaithersburg for 32 years. He was also a Division Chief for Sports and Youth Services. McGuire earned his Bachelor of Arts in History with a Minor in Secondary Education from Loyola University of Maryland and was a teacher for 9 years. While teaching, he was also the Head Coach for the varsity basketball and baseball teams. McGuire is a sports enthusiast and enjoys golfing, anything history, and visiting historical sites.
Jim is currently the Chair of the Facility Development Committee
Linda Jackier Schugar:
Linda Schugar is also a founding Board member. Schugar has spent most of her adult life around soccer, previously serving as the President for Montgomery Soccer, Inc. (MSI). She was also the Secretary of Maryland State Youth Soccer Association (MSYSA) and was the Volunteer Coordinator for the 1994 World Cup in Washington, DC. Schugar spends her time with grandchildren, gardening, knitting, playing Mahjong and of course, watching soccer!
Giovanna Wood:
A native Spanish speaker from South America, Giovanna Wood joined the Board in the spring of 2016. She has been a long-time volunteer with Bethesda Soccer Club, and she said she hopes to be able to provide a voice for the Hispanic community. In addition to her enthusiasm and knowledge of soccer, Wood brings valuable experience in finance and business development to her role. For 11 years, she has worked at Export-Import Bank, most recently as a senior portfolio manager for the Asset and Risk Management Division. She also spent nearly a decade in a similar role at Euler Hermes-ACI and was a credit advisor for Bank of America before that. In her spare time, Wood enjoys cooking, baking, running marathons, spending time with her family, and watching La Liga and Premier League.
Giovanna is member of the Finance Committee.
Daniel Lopez-Mendez:
Daniel Lopez Mendez is a healthcare operations and finance professional with experience at Adventist HealthCare, where he has held leadership roles supporting clinical and home care services. He serves as a Financial Operations Manager for Adventist HealthCare Home Care Services, overseeing payroll and supply operations and leading process improvements that enhance efficiency and staff experience.
Previously, he has worked in multi-site management within the health system and brings additional experience from organizations such as MedStar Health and Physiotherapy Associates. Known for his operational leadership and focus on continuous improvement, Lopez Mendez has contributed to initiatives that streamline workflows, improve financial performance, and support high-quality patient care.
Lopez-Mendez, a native of the United States and Spain, has grown up a Real Madrid fan and says he has been in love with soccer for as long as he can remember. When he’s not working, he loves playing soccer, hiking, bike riding, cooking, and spending time with his family. Daniel is a member of the Facility Development Committee
Amy McFarland:
Amy McFarland joined the Board of Directors in 2021. McFarland brings a strong passion for soccer, playing 4 years for the University of Pennsylvania while receiving her bachelor’s degree. She went on to graduate from Georgetown University Law Review. Amy Salomon McFarland is a partner at ArentFox Schiff LLP in Washington, D.C., where she co-leads the firm’s Media & Entertainment practice and focuses on intellectual property law. She advises clients across industries—including media, sports, fashion, and consumer products—on trademark, copyright, and right-of-publicity matters, as well as domain name and social media disputes.
McFarland manages global trademark portfolios and regularly counsels companies on brand protection, licensing, and IP strategy, both domestically and internationally. She also plays a key role in corporate transactions, handling IP aspects of mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures.
Earlier in her career, she gained in-house experience with a major media company and worked in government and telecommunications policy roles, bringing a practical, business-oriented perspective to her legal practice.
McFarland still plays soccer multiple times a week and is a diehard Caps fan.
David DaSalle:
David DaSalle is a partner at Potomac Law Group PLLC and joined our Board of Directors in 2021. DaSalle received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Notre Dame and received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Pittsburgh. When he is not working, DaSalle enjoys spending time with his wife and his 3 children, fitness, reading, cooking, and enjoying the great outdoors.
Dana Pauley:
Dana Pauley, CFRE, is a nonprofit executive and fundraising leader with deep experience in leadership development, philanthropy, and community engagement. She serves as President and CEO of Leadership Montgomery, a nonprofit organization dedicated to cultivating and connecting leaders to strengthen communities.
With a career spanning multiple nonprofit sectors, Pauley has held senior roles in development and marketing, leading initiatives in fundraising, strategic planning, and program development. She is recognized for her expertise in building partnerships across corporations, foundations, government agencies, and community organizations to advance equity, access, and collaborative leadership.
A Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE), Pauley has extensive experience in major gifts, grants, special events, and capital campaigns. She holds a bachelor’s degree in human services with a concentration in counseling and is actively involved in professional and community organizations in the Washington, D.C. region.
