Director: Sports Turf and Grounds

The Director of Sports Turf and Grounds will oversee the department and manage the 24 outdoor athletic fields, including 21 natural grass and 3 artificial turf fields as well as the surrounding landscaping and common areas.  They will also over see the Championship Stadium, home to the Maryland Bobcats of the NISA, Old Glory DC of  Major League Rugby, the men’s and women’s Big East Conference Soccer Championships, and numerous other events and user group.  The Director will manage the grounds crew, department budget, agronomy program, and and field maintenance program.

Sports Turf Manager

Sports Turf Manager will coordinate with the Director of Sport Turf and Grounds to plan and execute daily operations for the department.  The will work with Director of Sports Turf and Grounds to create & implement overall agronomic maintenance plan for 13 Bermudagrass, 8 Kentucky bluegrass & Perennial ryegrass, & 3 artificial turf fields.  They will operate turf maintenance equipment including various mowers, tractors, utility carts, and other equipment essential to turf management operations.  The Sports Turf Manager will manage the staff of 8+ full time staff, part-time and seasonal staff, and interns.

Part-Time Job Opportunities

SAM Clinic Coaches – Part Time

The seasonal Soccer Coach will be responsible for the coaching of SAM soccer clinics for youth ages 2-12 at the Maryland SoccerPlex. The seasonal Soccer Coach will lead and teach classes based on a set curriculum, which focuses on fun, challenging activities and character development, under the guidance of the SAM Managers

Manager on Duty (MoD) – Part Time

Weekday Evenings and/or Weekends.  As a member of the SoccerPlex crew, this individual is responsible for opening and/or closing the facility as well as overseeing all indoor and outdoor activity including sports and non-sport events. Individuals will also aid in monitoring facility conditions by supervising part-time employees, assist in maintaining a clean facility, as well as interact with patrons to address their questions or concerns.  The MOD will also serve as basic security for the facility during their shift.

Café Team Member – Part Time

Weekends.  As a Café Team Member, this individual will work as part of our customer-facing team to prepare and serve food and beverages to customers in a clean and welcoming environment.

Maintenance Crew Member – Part Time

Weekday Evenings and Weekends. As a Maintenance Crew Member, you are responsible for all basic cleaning services in and around the indoor Adventist HealthCare Fieldhouse facility, and the overall maintenance of the grounds of the Maryland SoccerPlex. This individual will work as part of the team to maintain the cleanliness of the facility to keep a clean and welcoming environment for our customers.

Seasonal Job Opportunities

Summer Camp Counselors (Fun for All Sports Camp) & Coaches (SAM Soccer Camp)

Camp Counselors & Coaches will assist the Camp Director with leading, teaching, and motivating campers at the camps at the Maryland SoccerPlex and Adventist HealthCare Fieldhouse (AHF). The camp counselor/coach will oversee groups of campers weekly, lead activities based on a curriculum provided by the Camp Director, respond to and report incidents, such as behavioral problems or accidents to the Camp Director, and discuss camper participation and concerns with Camp Director, parents, and other camp staff members. Accepting applications from Rising High School Seniors & College students. Applicants should be patient, dedicated, fun-loving, reliable, responsible, personable, hard-working, communicate effectively, work well with both children and young adults, and previous work experience is preferred. A background check is required. This position is part-time and will require availability Monday-Friday during the summer.

Assistant Camp Director (SAM Soccer Camp)

The Assistant Camp Director will assistant the Camp Director with leading, teaching, and motivating campers at the SAM Soccer Camp at the Maryland SoccerPlex. Applicants should be patient, dedicated, fun-loving, reliable, responsible, personable, hard-working, communicate effectively, work well with both children and young adults, and previous work experience is preferred. A background check is required. This position is part-time and will require availability Monday-Friday during the summer.
